Features
The Thorlabs-Stratophase partnership is proud to introduce a new family of selectable wavelength mid-infrared lasers, specifically designed for lab based alignment and test applications. The heart of the SSOPO StratoLase sources relies on Stratophase's Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate (PPLN) Technology. The relatively simple implementation of a PPLN based monolithic Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO) allows a wide range of wavelengths to be easily achieved. Using an OPO allows access to two wavelengths simultaneously, the Signal and Idler. The Signal and Idler wavelengths are inherently linked via the OPO process. A minimum in Signal wavelength corresponds to a maximum in Idler wavelength and visa versa. The user can set either the Signal or Idler wavelength, it is not possible to set both wavelengths independently. The StratoLase internally separates the Signal and Idler wavelengths. The output can be configured by the user such that either the Signal or the Idler wavelength is present at the output aperture. The output beam is collimated with a low order Gaussian profile. The StratoLase sources allow users to select the desired operating wavelength using simple controls located on the front panel of the system control enclosure, the system then auto-tunes the phase matching conditions of the OPO to give the desired output. Control is also available remotely over an RS-232 interface and simple command line prompts. All of the lasers in the StratoLase Series have output repetition rates of 2kHz and typical pulsewidths of ~10ns. The Signal linewidths are typically 1nm/ 2nm @ 1400nm to 2nm/ 6nm @ 1700nm (-3dB/-10dB widths). The StratoLase range of mid-infrared wavelength selectable lasers offers the user turn-key access to an impressively wide range of wavelengths, making them an invaluable multipurpose tool for any lab based IR alignment or test activities.
